Inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers and innovators. At Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology (CAST), we are proud to be a specialist science academy for students aged 13–19. Situated in the heart of Cambridge’s world-renowned Biomedical Campus, we offer a unique educational experience that blends academic excellence with real-world industry engagement. CAST is a University Technical College (UTC), supported by the Baker Dearing Trust. As a UTC, we combine traditional academic subjects with technical and practical learning, preparing students for high-demand careers in science and technology.
Our vision is simple yet powerful:
To be a centre of excellence for science and technology education. By working with world-leading academic and industry partners, we build confidence and capability in our students, equipping them with the skills, attitudes and ambitions needed to succeed in their future careers.
CAST students learn in state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities, supported by our close partnerships with leading science, engineering and technology organisations. Our curriculum is designed around career-focused pathways, guiding students into sectors such as Life Sciences, STEM, and Applied Sciences. Every week, students participate in Challenge Projects led by business professionals, gaining hands-on experience with real research and innovation. These projects help build a portfolio of skills and experiences that are highly valued by universities and employers.
Our Sixth Form is a high-performing, vibrant community with a strong track record of academic success and student progress. We offer a supportive, personalised environment where students are known as individuals and encouraged to thrive both academically and personally.
Resilience – We set ambitious goals and develop the strength to overcome challenges. Respect – We value diverse perspectives and promote equality in all we do. Responsibility – We take ownership of our actions and strive to make a positive impact on our community and the world.
CAST is proud to be part of United Learning, a group of schools committed to delivering excellent education with a strong moral purpose. United Learning’s ethos – the best in everyone – aligns perfectly with our mission to nurture talent, integrity and ambition in every student.
