Destinations

Our goal is for all our students to progress onto further or higher education, training or employment. You can see details of destinations of our Year 13 students below. Most Year 13 students progress onto university, the vast majority studying STEM courses (you can see some of the subjects studied at the bottom of the page). Each year we have students who achieve places at the UK's top universities, including Cambridge, Oxford and Russell Group Universities. We also regularly have students achieving places to study Medicine.

Aggie
Aggie

Laboratory Science Apprenticeship, Medical Research Council

Bio
Aggie

As a result of a very successful T Level work placement Aggie was offered a degree level apprentice position at the Medical Research Council’s Laboratory of Molecular Biology (MRC LMB). Aggie joined CAST for her Sixth Form education to study for a T Level in Laboratory Science, for which she achieved a Merit grade. During a 3 month work placement at the LMB she rotated round a number of their Core Facilities trying her hand at microscopy, genotyping, biophysics, media prep and low cytometry. It was in the latter that she developed a real passion and was taken on as an apprentice studying at ARU. In addition to her T Level work placement Aggie gained further laboratory experience through CAST Sixth Forms Challenge Project programme.

Jonas

Medicine, Kings College London

Bio
Jonas

Jonas is studying Medicine at Kings College London. Jonas studied Biology, Psychology and Chemistry at CAST Sixth Form gaining the grades A*, A, B, he also completed an outstanding EPQ exploring the similarities and differences between social media and drug addictions for which he was awarded an A*. CAST Sixth Form supported his application to study Medicine at university by providing work experience and supporting his UCAS application, including providing support with his personal statement and a mock interview. Jonas was a member of the colleges MedSoc gaining a wider insight into careers in the health service.

Marta
Marta

Veterinary Medicine, University of Cambridge

Bio
Marta

Marta is studying Veterinary Medicine at University of Cambridge. Marta joined CAST Sixth Form to study A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths, achieving A grades in all her subjects. She also gained an A grade for her EPQ. During her time in CAST Sixth Form Marta achieved the United Learning Best in Everyone Award for Biology, this is awarded for subject excellence, only one student is selected from over 50 United Learning schools. In addition to her academic studies Marta completed extended projects in molecular biology, ecology and organic chemistry. CAST Sixth Form also supported her university application, providing personalised support with her application, a mock interview and, through United Leaning, was able to provide access to a webinar series on Oxbridge admissions and provided a day visit and workshop at a Cambridge College. CAST Sixth Form further supported her to gain appropriate work experience.
