Future Engineering Leaders: Three Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology Students Secure Prestigious Arkwright Scholarships

Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology (CAST) is proud to announce that three of its Year 11 students—Natasha Brown, Jan Lukasiak and Nathan Yin —have been awarded the highly coveted Arkwright Engineering Scholarship.  Administered by The Smallpeice Trust, the scholarship is awarded to Year 11 students who show the most promise as the UK’s future engineers.

The students have been awarded the scholarship following a rigorous, multi-stage selection process which included an aptitude test as well as a formal interview conducted by a panel of industry experts.  All three students impressed the interview panel with their genuine enthusiasm for engineering and their desire to pursue a career in the sector.

As Arkwright Scholars, the students will receive personal guidance from a professional engineer to help shape their career paths, funding to support their A Level studies and exclusive access to industry-led enrichment events, trade fairs and technical lectures held by top engineering firms and universities.

Danielle Pacey, Principal at CAST, said:

"We are incredibly proud of Natasha, Jan and Nathan on achieving this prestigious scholarship.  It is a remarkable achievement reflecting their considerable skill in science and engineering as well as their ambitions to establish successful careers in the sector.  Each of these students has taken full advantage of the STEM-focused curriculum we provide at CAST and I look forward to seeing them share what they have learnt through the scholarship with the rest of our school community.”

Nathan Yin said:

“I applied for the Arkwright Engineering Scholarship because it matches perfectly with my passion for engineering.  I believe the mentoring and industry connections it offers will help me develop my technical knowledge, gain insight into real-world engineering, and prepare me for a future career in the field.”

Jan Lukasiak said:

“I have been interested in electronic engineering and computer science for a long time. I hope this scholarship will help me make more projects and get a job in the future.”

Natasha Brown added:

“I applied for the opportunity to attend industry events and I am excited to receive the one-to-one mentoring.  I hope this will help improve my academic and practical understanding of civil engineering.”
