The intent of our PE curriculum is to provide all students with high quality PE and School Sport. It is our vision for every student to take the opportunity to succeed and achieve their potential, as well as to lead physically active lifestyles. We seek to inspire our students through PE lessons which are enjoyable, challenging and accessible to all. We want our students to appreciate the benefits of a healthy and physically active lifestyle. Through our teaching of PE, we will provide opportunities for students to develop values and transferable life skills such as leadership, working as part of a team, fairness and respect as well as providing them with opportunities to take part in a comprehensive enrichment programme with after school clubs and competitive sporting fixtures.
In Year 9, students all have one double lesson of PE each week and in Years 10 and 11, they have one single lesson. Our core curriculum focuses on the three key strands of health (Fit for life), performance (Fit to perform) and leadership (Fit to lead). This curriculum aims to give students exposure to a wide breadth of activities in line with the National Curriculum.
